MRS. CARRIE B. BREWER, 76, of

ence member, Rev. Chester Brewer, died
August 14, in Beyer Memorial Hospital,
a long illness. Born · June 6,
1891, m Durand, she was the daughter
of Ernest and Etta Williamson Sayre.
She graduated from Gaines High School
and on September 8, 1908, married Mr.
Brewer in Durand. Together t hey
ser ved at Carleton, Tipton, Willis, Denton, Bay Port, New Boston, Oakville
Raws onville, Clayton and twi·ce as asso~
ciate minister at Ypsilanti First. She
was a member of Ypsilanti F irst Church.
Surviving in addition t o her husband are
four daug hters, Mrs. Ralph Thayer of
Ypsi la nt i, Mrs. Roger Parish of Birmingha m, Mrs. H erman Doan of Ypsilan t i, and Mrs. Eric Hawthorne of
W indsor, Ontar io ; 11 grandchildren and
15 g r eat-grandchildren. Her brother-inlaw, Rev. Ha rry Brewer of Flint, is also
a retired m ember of the Detroit Conference. Mrs. Brewer was a poet and
she left a number of poems which ar e
1to be published posthumously. Funeral
ser vices were held at the Moor e Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Callis
officiating . Burial was in Highland

Conference, died September 29 in Canada and was buried at Ypsilanti on
October 2. Interment was at Highland
Cemet ery in Ypsilanti. M r. Brewer participated in many conference activities .
He was admitted on trial in 1910 and was
received into fu ll membersh ip in 1913.
He served churches at Carl eton , Tipton,
Wi llis, Denton, Bay Port, New Bost on,
Oakvi lle, Rawsonvil le; and Ypsilanti First
(Assoc.). After retiring in 1953. he served
at Clayton and again as assoCiate pastor
at Ypsilanti. Survivors includ.e fou r
daughters: Evelyn Thayer, Kath.ryn Parish Dorothy Qui nn and Ard1s Hawth~rne. Revs . Hugh C. White and
Ke nneth R. Callis officiated at the
funeral.
