Township February 1, 1885. She married Rev. Howard A. Cole August 14,
1905, at A1·gentine.
She w as a member of the Argentine
Methodist
Church on the
Ga ines
Charge, president of the Linden WCTU
for the last four years, and was a member of t he Central Michigan Holiness
Association of Gaines.
Surviving are h er husband; four s ons ,
Howard A., Jr., Julius L. of Saginaw,
Frederick W . of Washington, D.C., and
Beverly B. at home; two daughters , Mrs .
Elizabeth Ma xine Sta nsbery of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Ethel Mary Berry of
Boulder, Colo.; eight grandchildren;

REV. HOWARD A. COLE of Linden,
r et ired member of the Detroit Conference, was born N ovember 15, 1879, and
died De·c e mber 28, 1967. He entered the
Detroit Conference in 1921 a s a fu ll
member and was a preacher of fu ll salvation. He preached the doctrine of
s anctif ication a nd saw ma ny .people en~· into and enjoy this marvelous ex p erience taught by John Wes ley a nd the
founder s of Methodism. He served
charges mo stly in southeas te•rn Michigan, and a s a coordinating activity took
an a ctive part in the holiness work both
in camp meetings and local a ssociations.
Dr. Donald Morris of Owosso, a ssist ed
by the loca l pas tor, Rev. John M. Miller,
conducted the fun eral service in the
Argent in e Methodist Church, December
30. His companion in the min istry, whom
he married Aug ust 15, 1905, the form er
Annie Gillespi e of Gaines , preceded him
in death in 1957. Surviving are four
sons, Howard, Julius, Fred and Beverly;
a nd t w o daughters , Mrs. William Stansbery (Elizabeth) and Mrs. George Berry
(Ethel). One son, Julius, has continued
in the work of t he minis try in the capacity of local preacher in The Methodist Church and in s ome supply work.
