School, Hamline a nd Bos ton U nivers iti es a nd was orda ined a Deacon of
the former Methodis t E pis copa l Church
in 1897. Two year s la ter , while a s t udent at Bos ton, he was ordained Elder .

A s a pas tor , Dr. Cook wa s noted for
his administrative ability a nd his inspired preaching . H e ha d t he satis fa ct ion of reducin g th e church debt or
lift ing mor tga ges f rom many of t he
chu rches he served, including Traver se
City Central wh ere he was pas tot· f r om
1921 to 1924. H e served 25 years on
th e Board of Mini ster ia l Tmin ing, 14
as ch airman; a nd w as executive cha irman of t he Senate of the All-Michigan
Su mmer School of Theolog y meet ing
a nnu a lly at A lbion.
H e was the a u thor of several books
and a writer of poetry. H e wa s a me mber of the Poetry Societ y of Michiga n .
Afte r 40 year s in the act ive m in is t ry,
he retir ed to his fr uit fa r m west of
T r a verse City. For many year s he was
a me mbe 1· of th e M ichiga n Purebred
Gu em s ey A ssocia tion, ser ving on t he
Reg ional Board of Di t·ectors, a nd was
