Nelson D. Cushman, student Minister at the 1st Method ist
Church i n Seneca, Illinois was ele cted to trial membership
in the Detroit Annual Gonfe rence of the Methodist Church on
Wednesday morning, June 16, a t the 12L~th session of the annual
Conference on t he c amp us of Ad rian College, Adrian, Michi gan.

Bishop Dwight E. Loder on Sunday af ternoon , June 20th in ceremonies to be he l d in the Adrian College Chapel.
The son of Mrs . Clifton L. Cushman of Kalamazoo, Michigan,
Mr. Gushman graduated from the W.K . Ke llogg H igh School in
Augusta, Mi chigan in 1936;
received his B.S •. in 1949 f rom Iowa
State University in Ames, Iowa; and is attending the Garrett
Theological Seminar y a t Evanston, Illinois.
Mrs. Cushman is the former Margaret Elizabeth Wolford of
Clear Lake,Eowa.
The Cushman' s have five children, Barry ,
Roxanne, Rosalie, La urie, and Ann ...
MrQ Cushman was appointed to attend school by Bishop
Loder at the Wednesday afternoon session of the Conference,
and this will pe rmit him to continue servi ng as Student
Mini ster of the Seneca , I llinois Methodist Ghurch.

_Rev. Nelson D. Cushman, for the past several years Student
Minister of First Methodist Churcl:l, Seneca, Illinois, was ele·cted
to Full Membership in the Det.roi t Annual Conference ot· the Methodist
Church on Tuesday evening, June b, at the 12bth session of annual

conference on the campus of Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
He will be ordained an Elder in the Methodist Church by
Bishop Dwight E. Loder at the closing session of the Conference
on Saturday afternoon.
Rev. Cushman was graduated 1'rom the
w.
K. Kellogg High
School in Augusta, Michigan in 193b; received his B.S. degree in
1949 from Iowa State Univers ity in Ames Iowa; and the B.D. degree
from Garrett Theological Seminary, Evanston , Illinois this year.
Mrs. Cushman is the former Miss Margaret Elizabeth Wolford of
Clear Lake, Iowa.
The Cushmans' have five children, Barry, Roxanne,
Rosalie, Laurie, and Ann.
Bef ore entering the ministry of the Methodist Church, Rev.
Cushman served

years with the Cooperative Extension Service,
Michigan State University, in various localities •
At the reading of the appointments by Bishop Loder on Tuesday
evening, Rev. Cushman was assigned to serve as Minister on The
Methodist Church in Hancock, Michigan.
