her pastoral assignment there in June,
1973. Miriam spent her childhood in II·
linois and Indiana and went to Detroit
in her teens. She received her B.S. in
Education from Central Michigan Uni·
versity in 1966, and received her semi·
nary education at Colgate Rochester
Divinity School. She has two sons, ·
Norman and Fredrick, a daughter, Mar·
jorie Pharis, all married; and eight
grandchildren. Miriam lives in what she
calls a "one-woman parsonage" to
which people of her parish come for
church business, counseling, classes,
Bible study, prayer groups, youth fellowship, business meetings, and to
browse in the parsonage library.
