Dr. Donald has been a delegate to

He has served the D etroit Conference a s
its secretary and functioned in th at
capaci ty wh en the conference met in
Adrian in 1939, the year of Me thodist
unification. In r ecent y ea rs he has been
president of the Conferen ce Boa rd of
Education a nd has served on nume r ous
conference boa rds , a gencies and committees . Born a t Ta mara ck in the Copper Country, he has spen t h is entire
ministry in the state. A lbion Colleg e
gradua ted him with th e A.B. degr ee in
1917. He t ook wor k at the Univers ity
of Michig an, Drew Semi na ry a nd received the B.D. degr ee from Ga rrett
Biblical Ins titu te in 1922. H e was honored with a D.D. degree from Albion College in 1946.

1917. He preceded her in dea th
on May 24, 1972.
Mrs. Dona ld was a member of
the First Uni ted Methooist church
in Fenton and a member of the
Bay City Chapter No. 219 Order
of Eastern Star. She served Meth?dist churches with her husband
m Mt. Clemen~, Bay City, H~
well, and Pontrac before retiring
from Yp5'ilanti. The Rev. Donald
also served as District Superintendent in F lint.
She is survived by one son

Minneapolis, Minn.; one ' gr~nd
da ughter, Mrs. Larry Ward of St.
Clair Shores; two great-grandchi!dren, Lisa and Lianne Wa rd. Three
siste~s and one broth~r preceded
her m death.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 12 in the United Methodist Retirement Home Chapel with
the Rev. Robert Ward and the Rev .
Ira Wood officiating.
Burial took place at the Oakwood
Cemetery, Fenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the
United
Methodist
Retirement
Home. Arrangements were handled by the Burghardt-Cole Chelsea Chapel.

Methodist Retireme nt Home on June 8.
On December 17, 1917 she was married
to the late Rev . William Clyde Donald,
who se rved in various pastorates and as
a district supe rintendent in the Detroit
conference. Mr. and Mrs. Conald entered the reti remen t home on Apri l 9,
1968. For a number of years she served
on th e Re ligious Life Committee of the
Home as Chairperson of the Music
Comm ittee . She also served as the
director of the Chapel Choir. She was a
member of the Fenton United Methodist
Churc h and of the Bay City Chapter No .
219 O .E.S. She is survived by one son:
• Dr . W illiam Clyde Dona ld II , of M i nneapolis, Minnesota ; one granddaughter;

services were condu cted in the chape l
of the Chelsea United Methodist Retirement Home on june 12, with Dr. Robert
P. Wa rd and Rev . Ira L. Wood officiating . Interment wa s in Oakwood Cemetery, Fenton , Michigan.
