The Reverend Mr. Marshall Grant Dunlap was elected to Elder•s Orders
and received as a Full Member of the Detroit Annual Conference of the United
Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 4, as the 144th consecutive Annual Session
of the Conference began in Dawson Auditorium on the campus of Adrian College,
Adrian, Michigan.
Son of Mrs . Elizabeth Dunlap of Detroit, the Reverend Mr. Dunlap was
graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit; he received a B.A.
degree from Albion College in 1980, and a Master of Divinity degree from
Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., 1983.
Mrs. Dunlap is the former Miss Susan DeFoe, daughter of Daniel and
Margaret DeFoe of Berkley; she is also an ordained Elder in the Detroit
Conference and serves at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church .in Detroit.
Reverend Mr. Marshall Dunlap has been reassigned to Thoburn United

Methodist Church in Detroit as Minister by Bishop Craig for the coming year .

The Rev. Marshall G. Dunlap was elected to Deacon's
Orders, and received as a Probationary member of

Detroit Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church
on Tuesday evening, June 2nd, as the 140th consecutive
annual session began in Dawson Auditorium on the campus
of Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan.
On Friday evening, June 5th, he was ordained a
Deacon in the United Methodist Church by Bishop Edsel
A. Ammons, Resident Bishop of The Michigan Area of The
United Methodist Church.
Son of Mrs . Grant
Michigan.
(Elizabeth) Dunlap o f Detroit,
The Rev. Dunlap was graduated from Cass
Techincal High School in Detroit in 1976.
He received an A.B. degree from Albion College,
Albion, Michigan in 1980; and is presently enrolled as
a student at Wesley Theolgical Seminary in Washington,
D.C.
The Rev. Dunlap is pursuing the course of study
required for full membership in the Detroit Annual Conference, and will continue his studies in the ensuing
year.

REV . SUSAN KATHRYN DEFOE and
REV . MARSHALL GRANT DUNLAP
were married at Mt. Hope UMC in Detroit
on February 15. Bishop Judith Craig officiated . Susan is the pastor of the Mt.
Hope Church, and Marshall is the pastor
of Thoburn UMC, also in Detroit. Mr. and
Mrs. A. Daniel DeFoe , the bride 's parents ,
are members of Berkley First UMC.
Elizabeth Dunlap, the groom 's mother, is
a member of Metropolitan UMC , Detroit.
Mrs. Molly DeFoe Macaulay was her
sister's matron of honor, and Mr. Dale
Dunlap his brother's best man. Ten other

close friends of the bride and groom , and
Susan ' s nieces Meggen and Emily
Macaulay, completed the wedding party.
Marion Finkelstein , Karla Krahnke, Sharon

were the bridesmaids. Bob Macaulay ,
Dave Whaley, Jim Warring , Jeff Ellison
and Rev . Dan Young were the
groomsmen .
