Bishop Frederick DeLand Leete

Bishop Frederick DeLand Leete was born at Avon Springs, New York, October 1, 1866. He was the son of a Methodist preacher. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1889. He did post-graduate work both at Syracuse and Rochester. He entered the Northern New York Conference, before graduating, in 1888, serving in Dryer Memorial Church, Utica, New York, where also from 1891 to 1894, he was General Secretary of the Y.M.C.A. After three other important pastorates, including the University Church, Syracuse, he was transferred to the Detroit Conference and was pastor of the Central Church, Detroit, from 1906 to 1912 when he was elected General Superintendent, at Minneapolis, Minnesota. His first assignment was to the Area of Atlanta, Georgia, from 1912 to 1920; then to the Indianapolis Area from 1920 to 1928, when he was assigned to the Omaha Area.

Bishop Leete is the author of several works, such as Every Day Evangelism, Christian Brotherhood, and The Church in the City. His most able and important treatise is that on Christianity in Science, highly commended both by many scientists and theologians.
